Apr. 29th, 2017 08:10 pmI've pretty much abandoned LJ, but sometimes I feel the need to post somewhere other than Facebook.
Mum-in-law passed away a year ago this February at the grand old age of 98. She'd been pretty much blind and deaf for the last year of her life and towards the end was bedbound. She still lived alone, however, with us visiting three or four times a week to do her washing and brother-in-law going in twice or three times a day to deliver meals and give her medication for her thyroid.
It's left us in limbo, to be honest, and itching to do something completely different. So, after 10 years in our current house we sold up at the end of March and we are now in the process of buying a money-pit in a village just outside of Pershore in Worcestershire. It's a repossession, so there is always the danger of someone coming in and making a higher offer as it has to stay on the market until we exchange. We exchange on our house on 5th May and hope to complete on 25th May. We have to exchange on the new (very old) house on 16th May and the bank's terms are that we have to complete 7 days later which is 23rd May. Our solicitor thinks the bank will allow us to complete on 25th but we're waiting for confirmation of this.
I think we're going to be busy for the next 5 years.
